| Q: |
Why is
there no sound? |
A: |
Check that your
sound card is installed and
working. You can confirm this by
using another application to play
sound, such as Windows Sound
Recorder.
Check sound volume, ensure that
it is not muted.
Ensure that you have made a valid
choice of sound medium. If you
have selected wave sound for an
instrument, make sure that you
have selected a folder with wave
files in it, and that you have
selected an appropriate file name
from the drop down box.
Make sure that you have selected
a valid rhythm (and that the
rhythm contains at least a single
beat) |
| Q: |
My MIDI
instruments sound strange. Why is
that? |
A: |
The Orange Metronome
is designed to run with sound
cards set up for General MIDI
configuration. The program plays
MIDI OUT through the MIDI Mapper.
Ensure that the MIDI instruments
you want to access can be called
via the GM instrument list and
are available to the Windows MIDI
Mapper. |
| Q: |
I
am using Windows NT/2000.
The PC Speaker makes no sound
when I select it as a beat
instrument. Why is that? |
A: |
The PC Speaker will
only sound in Windows NT/2000 if
there is a problem with the sound
card. This is standard behaviour.
If you hear no sound at all when
you choose PC Speaker as the beat
instrument, either select another
output medium (eg Wave), OR go to
"Control Panel/Sounds and
Multimedia" and ensure that
you have a sound assigned to the
Windows event "Default
Sound". |
| Q: |
My copy of
the program was working but now
there is no sound output. Please
explain... |
A: |
Your license to use
the evaluation version of the
Orange Metronome has expired.
Register here to reenable sound. |
| Q: |
Where have
all my rhythms gone? |
A: |
In rare
circumstances, the rhythms.dat
which holds all the program
rhythms can be corrupted. See the
Backing Up and Restoring
Your Rhythms section of
the program help file for details
on how to restore a default copy. |
